I grew up in a non-horsey family in St. Marys, West Virginia and had limited access to horses. So, when I went to college at Ohio University and discovered there was an equestrian team, that ALL levels of experience were welcome and I didn't have to own a horse to participate, I was elated!

I enjoyed the camaraderie of being part of the Ohio University Equestrian Team and the entire IHSA showing experience. Even though I didn't add many points to my team's overall score, I enjoyed the opportunity to compete in the shows and cheering on and helping my teammates.

Even now, 20+ years later, those are still some of my most treasured memories of my college years. I am deeply grateful to the ISHA for welcoming beginners such as myself. It provided me with an amazing opportunity to grow as a person, as a rider and as a team member that I never would have had otherwise.

I currently own 2 horses. I have a 34-year-old Thoroughbred gelding who I have had for about 20 years. He was/is my very first horse. I bought him a couple years after graduating from college. I currently have a 10-year-old Quarter Horse/Andalusian cross that I ride dressage/English pleasure.
