How IHSA Membership Changed My Life

Alexis Martin

Words cannot describe the memories, friendships and dedication that have been packed into these past four years as a member of the IHSA. Hundreds of hours of practice, meetings, horse shows, workouts, traveling and team bonding over the years were all worth it. As a senior, I am devastated that my time has been cut short and I cannot finish what has been started, but I am a strong believer in ‘everything happens for a reason.’

IHSA has shaped me to be the rider and person I am today. When I moved on the Delaware Valley University campus my freshman year, I could not wait to join the Equestrian Team and meet everyone. The team was a way for me to escape from my academics that were stressful at times and allowed me to put my energy into the sport I love most.

I did not realize how much being a part of a team would impact me. Since day one, I was surrounded by teammates and coaches I now consider family, one I will always remember as I look back on all the great times we had together. I am proud to have been a part of something so amazing and experience all of the wonderful opportunities the IHSA has provided me.

Thank you to the IHSA, my team and coaches for everything they have done for me during my time as a member. This part of my life will never be forgotten.
