Meet IHSA Metropolitan Equitation Invitational Competitor Irene Powlick

Irene Powlick, 18, is headed to the Longines Masters of New York on April 25-28 to compete in the inaugural Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association’s (IHSA) Metropolitan Equitation Invitational, where 25 select intercollegiate riders will show off their skills on unfamiliar horses. The class is going to be judged by the legendary George H. Morris and grand prix rider and former equitation star Brianne Goutal-Marteau.

RESPECTED JUDGES TO OFFICIATE 2019 IHSA NATIONALS IN SYRACUSE

Fairfield, Conn.– April 17, 2019 – The 2019 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championship is set to kick off in Syracuse, New York, May 2-5. The New York State Expo Center will come alive with equestrian teams from across North America representing their colleges and universities in hunter seat equitation and Western horsemanship. Men and women will compete equally in a collegiate catch-ride format in divisions that range from the Walk-Trot through Open. Top riders will vie for the USEF/Cacchione Cup, the NRHA Individual Open Reining final and the AQHA Western High Point Rider national final. IHSA has assembled four highly-respected and experienced judges to officiate the event.

OREGON STATE, OHIO STATE AND FINDLAY TAKE TOP TEAM SPOTS AT IHSA WESTERN SEMI-FINALS, SPONSORED BY NRHA

Fairfield, Conn. ­­– March 20, 2019 – The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) held its Western Semi-Finals, sponsored by the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), March 16-17. Hosting the events were Florida State University (FSU) at the Florida Horse Park in Ocala, Florida, Utah State University (USU) at their facility at the USU Equine Center in Wellsville, Utah, and University of Findlay, at their facility in Findlay, Ohio. IHSA is celebrating its 40th anniversary of the Western divisions this year.

HOST UNIVERSITIES ANNOUNCED FOR THE 2019 IHSA WESTERN SEMI-FINALS

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Dec. 10, 2018 – The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) is celebrating their 40-year anniversary of the Western disciplines. Recently, the organization’s leadership announced the locations for the for their Western Semi-Finals, sponsored by the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), scheduled for March 16-17. The Semi-Finals are the decisive step for Western riders and teams to qualify for the IHSA National Championship Horse Show, May 2-5 in Syracuse, New York. Skidmore College and SCAD to be Honored at the Pegasus Awards Ceremony at 2019 US Equestrian Annual Meeting

New to the Pegasus Awards celebratory evening, the 2018 Intercollegiate and Interscholastic Equestrian Team Awards will be presented Thursday evening, Jan. 10. US Equestrian’s Pegasus Awards honor some of the great men and women of equestrian sport. UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY AWARDED THE AQHA TEAM NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Harrisburg, Penn.—May 7, 2018—The final day of the 2018 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championship Horse Show featured the conclusion of the Western divisions. Young men and sparkle-clad women sat tall in the saddle to compete at the Pennsylvania Farm Complex in Harrisburg. The AQHA National Champion Team University of Findlay took home the trophy after a stunning victory over talented teams from across the country. Ohio State University was named reserve champion.

SKIDMORE COLLEGE WINS THE COLLEGIATE CUP

Harrisburg, Penn.—May 6, 2018—Competition Saturday at the 2018 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championship Horse Show included tiebreakers and exciting outcomes. The Skidmore Thoroughbreds maintained a lead throughout the show and finished with 30 points, earning them the right to take the Collegiate Cup home to Saratoga Springs. Reserve champions Savannah College of Art and Design were just two points behind and Stanford University was third with 22 points.

Harrisburg, Penn.—May 4, 2018 —The 2018 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championship Horse Show resumed for the second day of action at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The first two phases of the coveted USEF/Cacchione Cup, the Equitation Over Fences and the Equitation on the Flat took place. Lisa Giris and Madison Dempster will travel to Nationals May 3–6 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to capture the action behind the scenes. Each year the photography interns contribute images used in IHSA communications.
