IHSA ATHLETES TO COMPETE IN THE TAYLOR HARRIS INSURANCE SERVICES NHS ADULT EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIP

Fairfield, Conn. ­­– Oct 24, 2019 – Athletes from the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) will showcase their equitation at the iconic National Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky. Founded in 1883 and originally held at Madison Square Garden, the storied show is the host of the coveted ASPCA Maclay National Championship and three other equitation finals, including the Taylor Harris Insurance Services (THIS) National Horse Show (NHS) Adult Equitation Championship. The leadership of the National Horse Show invited IHSA members to participate in the THIS NHS Adult Equitation Championship, held the first weekend of the show on Saturday, Oct. 26. The first round of the class is expected to begin at 5:45 p.m.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Oct. 8, 2019 – The leadership of the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) announced the first inductees for the IHSA Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame and candidates include people, horses and teams. Criteria for selection includes outstanding competitive achievement, exceptional contributions to the IHSA, success or significant impact in equestrian sport or the equestrian industry and any other honors. An induction ceremony will be held during the IHSA board meeting on Saturday, Jan. 4, in Orlando, Florida.

IHSA FOUNDER BOB CACCHIONE TO RETIRE FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sept. 3, 2019 – Robert E. “Bob” Cacchione, the charismatic leader of the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA), will retire from the executive director position of the organization he founded. Cacchione announced his decision in a letter to the IHSA board of directors, effective Sept. 1. He will continue to promote and support the IHSA and will assume the role of founder emeritus. Peter Cashman, IHSA second vice president and co-coach of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point's equestrian team, will assume the role of interim executive director until a formal board election will take place June 2020.

UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY REPEATS THE AQHA TEAM NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE HONORS

Syracuse, N.Y.—May 5, 2018—The final day of the 2019 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championships featured the conclusion of the Western divisions. This year, the IHSA is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Western Divisions. Young men and women from across North America qualified to compete at the Expo Center at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. The University of Findlay successfully defended their 2018 title and took home the trophy for the second consecutive year with 49 points. University of Wisconsin-River Falls was named reserve champion with 41 points and Ohio State University was a close third with 39 points.

INTERMONT EQUESTRIAN AT EMORY & HENRY COLLEGE TAKES THE COLLEGIATE CUP

Syracuse, N.Y.—May 4, 2019—Competition continued Saturday at the 2019 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championships at the New York State Fairgrounds Exposition Center in Syracuse. The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry team earned 50 team points and edged out Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) who earned 43 points. Stanford took the third spot with 36.5 points.

USEF/CACCHIONE CUP FEATURED AND WESTERN DIVISIONS CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY DURING SECOND DAY OF IHSA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Syracuse, N.Y.—May 3, 2019 —The 2019 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championships resumed for the second day of action at the Expo Center at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. The first two phases of the coveted USEF/Cacchione Cup, the Equitation Over Fences and the Equitation on the Flat took place. The Western riders and horses also began competition, featuring AQHA Team Open Reining and Individual Open Western Horsemanship. All teams participated in the colorful Parade of Teams.

IHSA NAMES 2019 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO INTERNS

Fairfield, Conn. — May 2, 2019—The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) selected four members out of 24 applicants for the 2018 IHSA National Championship Candid Photography Internship and the Video Internship. Halley Guptil, Ellyn Narodowy, Nicole Sullivan and Irina Hulse will travel to Nationals May 2–5 at the New York State Fair Expo Center in Syracuse, NY to capture the action behind the scenes. The photography interns contribute images to IHSA communications each year. This year will be the first for the IHSA to have a video intern.
