Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Welcomes New Sponsors Diamond Wool ® Pad Co. and d.w.equis

Fairfield, CT (April 19, 2017) The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) and IHSA National Championships are pleased to welcome Diamond Wool ® Pad Co. and d.w.equis as new sponsors. Diamond Wool® Pad Co. are manufacturers of natural fiber, ‘Wool Felt’ saddle pads and offer a range of Western pads for all disciplines that are hand crafted using high quality materials and are a trusted choice of horse enthusiasts around the world. D.w.equis is a manufacturer of industry-leading equine products including bell boots and First Aid boots with a contoured shape and superb fit for horses, and are used by professionals across all English disciplines.

Diamond Wool Pad Co. and d.w.equis are the newest sponsors to partner with America’s oldest and largest college equestrian sport association. IHSA celebrates the 50th anniversary of its founding at its National Championships, May 4-7, in the Alltech Arena of the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

The sponsorships will reflect awards for the horses competing at Nationals, including the winner of each hunt seat class receiving a d.w.equis Sure Seat Half Pad (wool) and western class winners receiving a Diamond Black Gold Performance Pad. Each reserve champion will receive a pair of bell boots.

“This is a great way to get products into the hands of our top teams, and a great promotional tool to help get the word out about great products,” said IHSA Vice President and US Military Academy at West Point equestrian team coach Peter Cashman. “As IHSA celebrates the 50th anniversary of its founding and looks forward to continuing to serve more than 400 institutions and 9,000 college riders, we are excited to welcome d.w.equis and Diamond Wool at this important chapter in our history.”

IHSA promotes competition for full time student riders of all skill levels, who compete individually and as teams at regional to national levels based on the principle that any college student should be able to participate in horse shows regardless of financial status, gender or riding level. In 2017 IHSA celebrates the Golden 50th Anniversary of its 1967 founding by Fairleigh-Dickinson University sophomore Robert E. 'Bob' Cacchione and today serves more than 400 member institutions and 10,000 riders annually. Visit and follow IHSA on Facebook and Instagram for more about Bob's 50th Anniversary Tour, IHSA teams, scholarships and alumni riding programs.

Farm Name: Cornerstone Farm
Show Name: Cornerstone’s Star
Owner: Marisa Kalmar, Coach, Lehigh University
Breed: QH cross mare
Divisions Used in: Walk Trot through Open – Zone 3 Region 4

Star is loved far and wide. She was rescued when she was two from a terrible situation and she quickly learned how great life could be when it involved loving students.  She has taken riders from the Mini-Short Stirrup division through the Large Pony Hunter division in both local and rated horse shows, and has done the equivalent for many IHSA riders.  A Lafayette student created an Instagram tribute thanking her for many great performances including a win that helped her to qualify for Regionals.  Coaches feel confident when their riders draw Star, especially the ones new to IHSA competition.  She is now 20 years old and has participated in IHSA competition for almost 15 years!
