How to Join IHSA

Signing up your Team for IHSA

• Print out the current IHSA rulebook from the website and read it!  Review the requirements for college membership and individual undergraduate membership.
• Go to the IHSA website at www.ihsainc.com to join IHSA.  As the coach or college designated representative, you will use the “coach’s site” to manage your team.  Log on to establish your username and password.  If you have any questions concerning the website, e-mail Carrie Kolstad at kolstadc@gmail.com. 

Enroll Your College

• Enroll your college for the competition year.   Go to the IHSA website www.ihsainc.com and click on “Join IHSA”.  You will find instructions for completing the College Membership Form.  Print out a copy and have your college designated representative and coach sign where indicated.
• Obtain an official college check or official club check for $250 payable to IHSA, Inc.  The College Membership Form and the check go to your Regional President.

Enroll Your Students

• Have your students go to the website and join IHSA as an Individual Member in their discipline: Hunt Seat $30 or Western $30 or a Combined Hunt Seat and Western $40.  Have them print out their membership form and sign it.
• Students NEW to IHSA must fill out a Rider Placement Form.  This form is available on the “coach’s site”.  You will need to print your own copies.  After each new student completes the form, look over it carefully to see that all questions are answered for both riding disciplines.  Assign your student to the division indicated by the form and sign it. (Remember that this is a legal IHSA document).
• After your students have joined IHSA, print out your IHSA Eligibility Form. Give the eligibility form to your College Registrar to verify the students are full-time undergraduates.  The Registrar must sign and stamp this form to make it valid. (This needs to be done at the start of each semester).
• Have your students join USHJA as a collegiate member (for hunter seat and combined memberships only)

Where to Send Payment

• Send payment for individual memberships to the National Treasurer in one check (a school check, club check, bank check or money order is acceptable (student checks are not permitted under any circumstances). Use the form provided on the website to list your team members and send it with the check to either address below.  The National Treasurer will mark them “paid”.

Where to Send Forms

• Send the Rider Placement Forms, Membership Forms (with an official college or club check for $250, and Eligibility Form to your Regional President! (Not the National Treasurer!)  Your Regional President will appreciate receiving this in one packet and in an organized fashion.
